Paul Gilbert Fuzz Universe Pedal

Majik Box has made a lot of noise lately with their growing line of effects pedals and sweet sounding Sonic Source pickups and stompboxes. They’ve already won over high-profile customers like Mars Volta’s Omar Rodriguez–Lopez, Larry Mitchell, and Doug Aldrich, and the Torrance, California company now also counts Paul Gilbert among its clients.

The Majik Box Paul Gilbert Fuzz Universe pedal was developed for Gilbert by combining the Majik Box Body Blow, which set to Paul's favorite settings—Modern voicing and bassier low-cut, plus a custom tone control sweep—and the Majik Box Venom Boost. These two pedals were used extensively on Paul’s Fuzz Universe album. And the two circuits combined and modified become a multi-faceted monster of many voices.

What’s The Deal?
First off, the Fuzz Universe not really a fuzz pedal. Paul just calls it that because he’s wacky. But with a built-in boost channel it’s a little more complex than your average overdrive, and the additional functionality makes the very smart, and easy-to-navigate control layout noteworthy. It’s a very logical control set. On the lower right you’ll find the On/Off switch for Thrust 1, or the overdrive channel. On the upper left side of the unit is a chicken-head knob called Thrust 2 that controls the volume for the clean boost. The three round knobs arrayed in an echelon formation control the overdrive parameters—Drive controls the level of gain, Tone controls the EQ, and Thrust 1 controls the volume. Inputs and Outputs reside on the left and right sides. Powering up the Fuzz Universe requires a Negative Tip Adapter, and removal of the 9-volt battery is recommended if you’re using an AC adapter.

Anti-Effect pedal by ChaoSound

This is a really fuckin freakin weird guitar effect. Just from its name: Anti-Effect!!

There are an awful lot of guitar effects pedals that massage, tweak, clean, or otherwise enhance the signal from a guitar's pickups before it reaches the amplifier. The Anti-Effect from Poland's Chaosound turns its back on all that goodness and tries its best to destroy the sound instead.

Basically, the Anti-Effect causes a guitar’s signal to stutter and sputter like a bad cable being jiggled by a highly caffeinated crack addict. A rate control adjusts the speed of the effect, while the depth control dials in its intensity. A four-position sequence control alters the rhythmic pattern, although each setting has its own unpredictable tendencies.
The two footswitches are both momentary, turning the effect on or producing the effect at full depth as long as the switch is held down and generating sounds that resemble an amp about to explode, but without melting tubes or blown up transformers.
List Price: $239

Zakk Wylde Overdrive pedal

Can you imagine, Zakk Wylde using an overdrive pedal? Well this is not a joke at all, he is best known for his full blown high gain guitar sound, but he also love to use an overdrive pedal! Jim Dunlop make one for him, check this out!

Whether on his ground breaking work with Ozzy Osbourne or with his own Black Label Society, Zakk Wylde's guitar playing is loud, tough, and relentless. Zakk's take-no-prisoners attitude extends to his quest for tone, too. When he wanted to develop his signature overdrive pedal, he looked no further than Dunlop. The result is the Wylde Overdrive. This muscular stompbox will turn your clean amp into a heavy, chunky crunch machine. Or, use it like Zakk does and kick it in front of a dirty amp for a screaming, sustaining lead tone. The three simple controls—Output, Tone and Gain—make getting up and running easy, so you can concentrate on the business at hand: kicking major ass.

Power: Dunlop ECB003 AC Adapter or single 9 volt battery

Cobalt String: Does it makes your guitar sound better?

Ernie ball company said yes. From scientific experiment, cobalt is the element that can give more output to guitar than other element in the periodic table. More output mean more clarity, more volume and more everything, and the most important is your guitar can cut through the most dense rhythm in your band, sounds good?

Engineered to maximize output and clarity, Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinky Guitar Strings are the latest innovation in string technology. Seeking to provide guitarists and bassists with a new voice, Cobalt strings provide an extended dynamic range, incredible harmonic response, increased low end, and crisp, clear highs.

Cobalt provides a stronger magnetic relationship between pickups and strings than any other alloy previously available. Cobalt Slinkys are also soft and silky to the touch, making string bending a breeze.

ROLAND JAZZ CHORUS

Roland Jazz Chorus is the name given to a series of solid-state instrument amplifiers produced by the Roland Corporation in Japan since 1975. Its name comes from its built-in analog chorus effect.

The Jazz Chorus series became increasingly popular in the late 1970s and early 1980s new wave and post-punk scenes because of its clean yet powerful sound, durability and relatively low cost when compared to the more commonly used amplifiers of the time such as Marshall or Fender

It also found favour amongst funk players in America. It also became popular to use for clean tones in heavy metal, with the most famous users being James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett from Metallica.

It’s been thirty years since the first Roland Jazz Chorus guitar amplifier made its appearance. With its astonishing “JC” chorus effects and distinctive clear, tonally pure sound, the JC amp has become an industry reference.

There are two channels, one clean, the other with effects. The built-in effects include stereo chorus, vibrato, reverb, and distortion. The amplifier features high and low inputs, a bright switch as well as a three band equalizer and volume for each channel.

Uncompromising sound quality, unique chorus, and rugged construction make this amplifier a must-have for any serious musician.
